Community Horizons is assisting a family in the Wisconsin Rapids area in hiring a compassionate, attentive Companion/Caretaker to support their adult family member with disabilities. This role is, hands‑on, and focused on safety, engagement, and respectful daily support. Some healthcare or disability‑related experience is preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep the member safe and supported throughout the shift
- Provide companionship and engagement through activities such as:
- Watching movies
- Interacting with toys and sensory items
- Using the iPad
- Reading books or magazines
- Assist with feeding (all meals are pre‑prepared)
- Support with toileting on a 2‑hour toileting schedule
- Assist with dressing as needed
- Provide hand‑over‑hand assistance comfortably and respectfully
What the Family Is Looking For
- Someone mindful, observant, and attentive to safety
- A patient, calm presence who can follow routines
- A kind, steady caregiver who enjoys engaging activities
- Someone with knowledge of seizures and comfort responding appropriately
- Experience with disabilities or caregiving is strongly preferred
Schedule & Pay
- Part‑time hours; schedule discussed during interview
- hourly rate through SDS (paid via fiscal employer agent)
- Training provided by the family; no certification required
Requirements
- Must pass a background check
- Reliable transportation
- Comfort with hands‑on support and following a structured routine
