Caregiver for Young Adult with High Support Needs
Location: Appleton, WI
Pay: $18–$21 per hour (based on experience)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.- this position is a casual PRN position which could turn into a full-time position. This will be a back-up position
Community Horizons is seeking a kind, dependable, and compassionate caregiver to support a young adult who is non-verbal and on the autism spectrum. This individual has high support needs and occasionally displays physically aggressive behaviors, so experience with similar individuals — along with strong redirection and de-escalation skills — is strongly preferred.
We’re looking for someone who brings calm confidence, patience, and heart to their work — someone who believes in helping others live full, meaningful, and supported lives.
What You’ll Do:
Provide one-on-one engagement and supervision
Support personal care and hygiene
Assist with meal prep and feeding
Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized home environment
Support daily routines and activities
Accompany the individual and family to appointments or community outings
Remain steady, supportive, and compassionate during moments of escalation
What We’re Looking For
Experience working with non-verbal autistic individuals or those with high support needs
Ability to manage physically intense behaviors safely and respectfully
Strong communication and redirection skills
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Physically able to assist with safety and daily care
Prior caregiving experience required

As a Support Broker, we offer services to help plan and direct self-directed support. How can we help you? Position range from a few hours per week to full-time positions and offer flexibility which often works great for college students.
