Community Companion

Community Horizons is assisting a local Wis Rapids neighbor in finding the perfect Community Companion.

Monday thru Friday 930am to 530pm

Wage: $ Starting $16.50

Weekend hours are also available.

About the Role:

This family is looking for a calm, patient, and compassionate individual to be a Community Companion for their daughter who has developmental disabilities and is nonverbal. This role focuses on community engagement, reducing social anxiety, and supporting daily living needs in a respectful, person‑centered way.What You’ll Do Community Integration

  • Go on outings for exercise, social comfort, and independence
  • Visit community centers, libraries, stores, and parks
  • Enjoy walking, shopping, and sightseeing together

Personal Care:

  • Assist with dressing, as well as personal and feminine hygiene needs
  • Light meal preparation
  • Help coordinate meaningful daily activities that build confidence and comfort

Ideal Candidate:

  • Calm, patient, positive, and adaptable
  • Compassionate and understanding of individual needs
  • Experienced with developmental disabilities (non-verbal and anxiety support a plus)
  • Able to pass a caregiver background check
  • A safe driver with reliable transportation
