Position Overview
Community Horizons is assisting a member in finding a friendly and dependable Community Companion to support an adult with disabilities in enjoying meaningful experiences in the community.
This role centers on companionship, safety, and supporting the individual in participating in activities they enjoy—at their own pace and comfort level. It’s a great fit for someone who values relationship-based work and making a positive impact through supportive, low-stress interactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide companionship during community outings (walks, shopping, library visits, local events)
- Support communication needs with patience and respect
- Encourage independence while offering calm, steady guidance
- Ensure safety and comfort during transportation and activities
- Build a positive, trusting relationship centered on dignity and personal choice
Qualifications
- Kind, patient, and reliable
- Comfortable supporting individuals with developmental or communication differences
- Strong listening skills and respect for personal boundaries
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
