NURSE MANAGER, RN, FOR SURGERY AND THE PACU – AUSTIN, TX
THE SURGERY AND PACU NURSE MANAGER WILL BE A RN BASED IN AUSTIN, TX. THIS IS AN EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY TO MANAGE STAFF AND TO PLAN STAFFING NEEDS IN LINE WITH ORGANIZATIONAL REQUIREMENTS, AND TO BECOME ENGAGED IN TRAINING, PERFORMANCE REVIEWS, DEPARTMENTAL COLLABORATION AND BUDGET PREPARATION. COMPWNSATION: $90,000 TO $130,000 COMMENSURATE WITH EXPERIENCE.
PLEASE NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS LOOKING FOR A NURSE MANAGER THAT COMES FROM OR’S WHERE PATIENTS ARE ADMITTED TO STAY IN THE HOSPITAL. THEY ARE NOT LOOKING FOR A NURSE MANAGER THAT COMES FROM OUTPATIENT CLINICS FOR SAME DAY SUGERIES.
The Nurse Manager is a working manager, who is responsible for day-to-day operations of the PACU and Surgery.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will oversee the planning, directing and controlling of staffing assignments in accordance with hospital objectives and policies to ensure effective coverage of the department while maintaining productivity targets.
You will oversee the preparation and completion of the work schedule for assigned areas.
You will oversee the schedule for adequate staffing (including call) on a daily basis.
You will review daily performance, and will be responsible for keeping the department within recommended productivity targets and performance benchmarks.
You will recommend staffing changes with the appropriate rationale to the Director of Surgical Services.
You will interview and make recommendation on personnel, and have input on decisions regarding hiring, promotions, transfers, and terminations.
You will review and approve personnel performance appraisals including the establishment of goals for each employee. You will perform performance approvals for supervisors.
You will provide counseling/progressive discipline for employees when necessary, including documentation.
You will review personnel attendance records/personnel files.
You will regularly communicate with supervisors and employees (i.e.: in-service and staff meetings).
You will participate in meetings with physicians and other departments.
You will attend mandatory hospital staff / educational meetings and ensure documents are on record.
You will assist with preparation of the unit budget as directed by director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of the employment start date.
Registered Nurse.
Bachelors Degree.
5 years in appropriate area of expertise and two years in a supervisory / charge nurse position in Surgery / Day Surgery.
COMPENSATION:
Annual salary is $90,000 to $130,000, commensurate with experience.
