Job Title: Full -Time Caregiver for Young Adult with High Support Needs

Location: Appleton, WI

Pay: $18.00–$21.00 per hour

Schedule:    Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Community Horizons is looking for a kind, dependable caregiver to support a young adult male who is non-verbal and on the autism spectrum. This is a full-time position. The home environment is pet-friendly and welcoming to caregivers who are calm, confident, and skilled in providing consistent, structured support.

Th individual does have high support needs and can sometimes show physically aggressive behaviors, so experience with similar individuals is strongly preferred.

They're especially looking for someone who has:

·        Experience with non-verbal autism

·        Confidence in handling physically challenging situations

·        A calm, grounded presence

·        Skills in redirection and de-escalation

Daily responsibilities include:

·        One-on-one engagement and supervision

·        Personal care and hygiene support

·        Meal prep and feeding

·        Light housekeeping (laundry, sweeping, dishes, etc.)

·        Supporting daily routines and activities

·        Attending appointments with the family

·        Remaining steady and supportive during escalations

Requirements:

·        Experience with non-verbal autistic individuals

·        Ability to manage physically intense behaviors

·        Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

·        Physically able to support safety needs

·        Dependable, calm, and responsive

·        Prior caregiving experience is required

 Community Horizons provides support to individuals and families enrolled in self-directed care programs across Wisconsin, including services through Managed Care Organizations, IRIS (Include, Respect, I Self-Direct), and the Children’s Long-Term Support (CLTS) program.

Self-direction allows participants to make their own choices-selecting who provides their care and how those services are delivered.
